When users choose Internal Link from the task share menu, the option highlights in gray, but clicks on the right or left edge don’t copy the link. Most of the button works, but if it’s highlighted, users reasonably expect any click within that highlighted area to copy—without needing to “aim” for the center.
Current Limitations
- Edge Misses Despite Highlight: The menu item highlights, yet clicks on the right/left edge don’t execute the copy action.
- Extra Cursor Precision Required: Users must nudge toward the center to be sure the click copies, adding unnecessary friction.
- Confirmation Easy to Miss: The brief “Link Copied” toast can be overlooked (an extra step that shouldn’t be needed), increasing the risk of pasting an old/incorrect link.
General Example
A user opens a completed task, clicks the share icon, hovers until Internal Link is highlighted, and clicks near the left edge. The highlight suggests it will copy, but nothing is placed on the clipboard. The user pastes elsewhere and unknowingly shares a previous link.
Requested Enhancements
- Full-Width Click Target When Highlighted
If the menu item is highlighted, any click within that region should trigger the copy-to-clipboard action (no dead zones on the edges). - Unify Hover & Click Regions
Align the hover highlight and the active click target so visual feedback always matches behavior. - Stronger Copy Confirmation
Place the “Link Copied” toast slightly closer to the cursor so users don’t miss it.
Business Value
- Reliability: Eliminates edge-case misses that erode user trust.
- Speed: Removes the need for precise cursor placement or re-clicks.
- Accuracy: Reduces accidental sharing of stale links.
- Consistency: Meets expectations that a highlighted action works anywhere within its bounds.
