Overview
Customers report that copying a part number directly from within Limble and pasting it back into a part search or entry field can result in an unexpected leading space or hidden character. This causes the system to fail exact matches and can lead users to believe the part does not exist, increasing the risk of duplicates.
Current Limitations
• Part search and part number fields require exact matches and do not ignore leading spaces or hidden characters.
• Copied values from within Limble may include unintended whitespace.
• Users are not alerted when pasted input contains extra spaces.
General Example
A user copies a part number from an existing part record in Limble and pastes it into the part search. Because the pasted value contains a leading space, the search returns no results, prompting the user to create a new part with what appears to be the same part number.
Requested Enhancements
- Automatically trim leading and trailing whitespace in part number search and entry fields.
- Normalize pasted input to ignore hidden or non-printing characters.
- Optionally surface a subtle validation message when extra spaces are detected in pasted values.
Business Value
• Reduces accidental duplicate part creation.
• Improves user trust when copying values directly within Limble.
• Lowers data cleanup effort for customers and support teams.
