We have a constant debate on who should be entering Work Requests. Maintenance, Production team members, or Supervisors. If it's an upgrade or modification, the production team/supervisors have no problem putting in WR.
However, when something happens (breakdown) and maintenance is called….who should create the WR? The maintenance technicians would like to jump in and get into troubleshooting mode then LOTO, repairs, and testing, and then complete the WR that was made by production.
Some think that since maintenance was called, they should write their own WO/WR.
What are some of your practices and reasoning (pros/cons)?
