Overview
The customer wants users to be able to quickly access Part records directly from within a Bill by clicking a gear icon next to each listed Part. This would streamline navigation and align the Bill experience with the existing Purchase Order workflow, where users can already open the associated Part card directly.
Current Limitations
• Bills display linked Parts but the gear icon is grayed out to direct navigation path to the related Part record.
• Users must leave the Bill and manually search for the Part elsewhere in the system.
• This creates an inconsistent experience compared with Purchase Orders, where direct Part access is already available.
General Example
A user reviewing a Bill sees a listed Part and needs to confirm or update information on that Part record. In a Purchase Order, they can click the gear icon and open the Part card immediately. In a Bill, they must manually navigate away and search for the Part, adding extra steps and slowing down the workflow.
Requested Enhancements
- Make the gear icon next to each Part listed within a Bill Clickable.
- Configure the gear icon to open the associated Part record directly.
- Match the interaction pattern and placement used in the Purchase Order experience for consistency.
- Ensure permissions are respected so only users with access to the Part record can open it.
Business Value
• Reduces time spent manually searching for Parts from Bill records.
• Improves workflow efficiency for users reviewing purchasing and billing data.
• Creates consistency between Bills and Purchase Orders, reducing confusion and training friction.
• Improves usability for teams that frequently validate or update Parts while working from Bills.
