When users paste an image into the chat using Ctrl + V, the system automatically sends the image without giving them a chance to review or add context. This behavior causes accidental submissions and prevents users from including helpful explanations, leading to communication issues and, in some cases, serious privacy risks.
Current Limitations
- Immediate Image Send: Pasting an image with Ctrl + V instantly sends it—without preview or confirmation.
- No Text Context Allowed: Users cannot add any comments, explanations, or annotations before the image is sent.
- Accidental Content Sharing: There is no safeguard to prevent unintended image sharing, especially if the clipboard was not cleared properly.
General Example
- A user intends to report a visual issue in Limble. They take a screenshot of the problem area and plan to paste it into the chat with a message explaining what’s happening.
- However, the moment they press Ctrl + V, the image is sent without any chance to write context like: “This issue happens when clicking the 'Submit' button.”
- Worse, consider this real-world scenario:
A user takes a screenshot of a bank statement for unrelated personal use. Later, while working in Limble, they encounter an issue and think they’ve copied a screenshot of the error.
They press Ctrl + V in the chat—but instead of pasting the intended image, the bank statement screenshot is sent instantly, without any warning or chance to cancel.
This results in an accidental data breach, causing embarrassment or even compliance issues
Requested Enhancements
- Change Default Paste Behavior
Modify Ctrl + V to insert the image into the chat input field without sending, allowing users to add text or review the image first. - Inline Image Preview Before Sending
Show the pasted image in the message input as a preview, just like attachments, so users can confirm or delete it before clicking “Send.” - Optional Confirmation Setting
Add a user setting to require confirmation before sending pasted content, especially useful for sensitive environments.
Business Value
- Error Prevention: Avoids accidental sends of incorrect or private images.
- Improved Communication: Enables users to provide essential context with their visuals.
- Security & Privacy: Reduces the risk of sensitive data being unintentionally shared in a support or team environment.
- User Control: Aligns with standard messaging platform behavior and gives users confidence in what they’re sending.
