Users frequently need to customize dropdown lists within instructions for specific tasks or processes. However, the current system lacks the ability to save a modified version of a dropdown list as a new instruction, forcing users to recreate instructions from scratch, even when only slight changes are needed.
Current Limitations
- No "Save As New" Option: Editing a dropdown instruction does not provide an option to save it as a new, independent version.
- Risk of Overwriting Original: Any modification affects the base instruction unless manually duplicated and recreated.
- Time-Consuming Rework: Users must build new lists manually every time they want to create a variation of an existing one.
General Example
- A maintenance manager needs to adapt an existing dropdown checklist for a new machine type. The current list is close but not an exact match. There is no easy way to save a modified version without affecting the original or rebuilding it manually.
Requested Enhancements
- "Save as New Instruction" Button
Add the ability to duplicate and rename modified dropdown instructions with one click. - Instruction Versioning (Optional)
Optionally allow users to fork or branch from an existing instruction to create variations without losing the original.
Business Value
- Instruction Reusability: Encourages building off existing assets rather than recreating from scratch.
- Consistency: Preserves the integrity of standard instructions while supporting flexible adaptations.
- Time Savings: Greatly reduces time spent on documentation management and setup.
